Help shape a workplace where every Transport and Main Roads (TMR) employee feels respected, included and able to thrive.

What is this project about?

Griffith University researchers are partnering with TMR to understand what helps, or hinders, employees with disability and/or neurodivergence to feel included at work. Your insights will guide practical improvements such as recruitment processes, career-development pathways, training for managers and workplace adjustments.

Who can be involved?

  • Current TMR employees aged 18 or older

  • People with disability and/or neurodivergence — whether or not you have formally disclosed this to TMR

  • You may have been invited by a colleague or you might have found this page yourself.

Either way, your perspective is welcome.

How can I be involved?

There are different ways you can share your views.

  • You can participate in an interview with one of the Griffith Research team. If you're interested in an interview, please complete the short Expression of Interest Survey below. Researchers will review the expressions of interest and get in touch with selected participants to organise a confidential interview (about 45-60 minutes). Interviews can take place in person, by phone, or via Microsoft Teams - whatever works best for you. If selected, a Griffith University researcher will contact you to arrange an interview time.

During the interview, you'll be asked about your experience of working at TMR as a person with disability and/or neurodivergence, and your views on how inclusion could be improved. No preparation is required, and you're free to skip any questions you're not comfortable answering.

  • You can fill in a survey and write your responses to some open-ended questions. You can answer as many questions as you like, and you can be anonymous.
  • You can record your spoken story of your experience at TMR as an employee with disability and/or neurodiversity. You can be anonymous.

For more information about the research you should download the Participant Information Sheet.

Why does your voice matter?

Real-world stories from employees with disability and/or neurodivergence are essential for designing policies and practices that genuinely work. By speaking up, you will help TMR create a workplace where:

  • Recruitment and onboarding are barrier-free

  • Career progression is supported equitably

  • Managers understand how to provide meaningful adjustments and accommodations

The survey is voluntary. Voluntary means it is your choice if you want to take the survey. There are 14–18 questions in the survey. You can choose how many you answer, although some are required.
    There are:

    • 1 question asking if you want to take part

    • 5–7 questions about you (like your age, gender, and disability or neurodivergence)

    • 1–3 questions about your disability or neurodivergence (if applicable)

    • 6 questions about your job at TMR (like your role, location, and contract type)

    • 2 questions about how you’d like to do the interview and what supports you might need

We think the survey should take about 5 to 7 minutes.
