Dr. Kelsey Chapman Shortlists for Nature Awards Inclusive Health Research


We wish to extend congratulations to Dr. Kelsey Chapman for being shortlisted for the prestigious Nature Awards for Inclusive Health Research, in partnership with Takeda! Her impactful work with the Dignity Project and Inclusive Futures: Reimagining Disability is a powerful example of how research and advocacy can come together to improve systems and services for people with disabilities. 


The Dignity Project continues to push boundaries, fostering meaningful changes that are inclusive and accessible. Kelsey, along with partners like the Queenslanders with Disability Network and Metro South Health, is truly transforming the way we think about disability and inclusion in health research. 


Winners will be announced in an award ceremony in South Africa in October 2024.

Inclusive Futures: Welcoming Dr. Lisa Stafford, ARC Future Fellow


We’re excited to welcome Dr. Lisa Stafford to the Inclusive Futures: Reimagining Disability team. Dr. Stafford has been awarded $1,052,822 for her project, "Transport Equity for All". This project builds on Lisa’s existing body of work and aims to enhance how transport equity is understood, included, and applied in transport planning. 


Griffith University researchers have secured over $8.5 million in funding for eight out of 22 projects announced in the latest Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship round. With eight fellowships granted, totalling $8,587,849, Griffith achieved an 36.4% success rate—one of the highest in the country.

ARMS: Strategies for Accessible and Inclusive Research Development Workshops


Last week, Inclusive Futures team member Maretta Mann, together with Dr Noni Creasey from University Qld, presented “Disability Inclusive Research Management” at the Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS) annual convention in Darwin. 


The presentation gave an overview of disability in Australia, and introduced the terms accessibility, inclusion and belonging in the context of a research organisation. The presenters shared some practical strategies for including people with disability in research development activities. The benefits for inclusive research management range from supporting pathways for academics in your own research institution to contributions to a more equitable and just society.

The AI in Research Symposium at Griffith University is a premier event designed to showcase cutting-edge AI research within the university and promote collaboration across disciplines. Bringing together leading researchers, professionals, and external experts, including representatives from The Australian Research Data Commons, Queensland Health, Microsoft, and our exclusive sponsor Antares Solutions, the symposium aims to drive innovation and position Griffith University at the forefront of AI-driven research excellence. The event will feature keynote speech, presentations, and a panel discussion, along with a morning tea session for networking

Bold Ideas Better Solutions 2024 Registration Now Open!


We invite clinicians, researchers, industry partners, and people with disability to register and attend the 8th annual Hopkins Centre research symposium, Bold Ideas Better Solutions, 2024 (#BIBS24). The theme this year is Interdisciplinary research: solving complex rehabilitation challenges. 


We will examine the value of interdisciplinary research teams and collaborative research in solving complex rehabilitation challenges including emerging health interventions and rehabilitation and disability practices. 


Date: Wednesday, 23 October 2024
