Australia's fully accessible music festival, Ability Fest, is coming to Brisbane on October 26, 2024 —volunteers of all abilities are welcome! Don't miss our upcoming webinar on community involvement in health research, hosted by Amanda Newbery. For those interested in sports, we offer two events at the Griffith University Gold Coast Campus. Attend FREE Wheelchair Racing sessions every Saturday, open to ages 6+ with lower limb differences and experience a fun day of para sports on August 24, 2024, open to all ages. Finally, celebrate Brain Injury Awareness Week on August 25, 2024, at Captain Burke Park, Brisbane, and witness the creation of the Biggest Beanie Brisbane has ever seen. Ability Fest are seeking Volunteers!
Ability Fest is Australia's first and only fully accessible music festival, proudly presented by Untitled Group, triple j and the Dylan Alcott Foundation. Expanding to Brisbane for the first time, they will welcome all guests - regardless of their abilities - to join in the one-day music festival at Victoria Park.
They are seeking friendly, motivated and committed volunteers to join the Ability Fest team! They strongly encourage people of all ability levels to apply.

Intro to Consumer and Community Webinar
If you're passionate about health research and keen to learn how to make a real impact through involving consumers, don't miss the upcoming 'Intro to Consumer and Community Involvement in Health Research' webinar.
This session will be hosted by Amanda Newbery, the CEO of award-winning engagement and communication firm Articulous and a registered IAP2 trainer. Amanda will share her expertise on the essential elements of community involvement and how to integrate key principles into health research and translation. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best in the field

FREE Wheelchair Racing sessions
We're excited to announce FREE Wheelchair Racing sessions for everyone in Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales who is new to the sport. Open to anyone aged 6 and above with a lower limb difference, whether ambulant or wheelchair users, these Racing Wheelchairs are also available for school, district, and regional athletics carnivals, along with a seated throwing frame.
Location: Griffith University Gold Coast Campus Athletics Track (G44)
Time: 9-10am every Saturday morning until June 2025.

Brain Injury Awareness Week (#BIAW) Event
On August 25th, the Biggest Beanie Brisbane has ever seen will be constructed in front of Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge during #BIAW2024 as part of a documentary to raise awareness for brain injury. Come along and join The Hopkins Centre's Belinda Adams OAM as we witness the beanie rise up in front of the Story Bridge, signifying the importance of everyone's story and showcasing the power of what we can achieve when we all work together to shine a light on what is known as the invisible disability.
What: Bring a plate & share a cuppa and a cake

Come N Try a Para sport!
The City of Gold Coast in partnership with Griffith University, Gold Coast Recreation and Sport, Ignition Athletics, Mentor 4 Me and Gold Coast Titans, are counting down to the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games.
Para sports on offer for everyone to participate in include athletics (running, wheelchair racing, and throw events), boccia, AFL, rugby league and football (soccer). All ages are welcome and events are free. It promises to be a fun day. Get your photograph taken with the Olympic Rings and Paralympic Agitos or grab a coffee (first 100 are free) and watch the fun unfold.

Ability Fest 2024 arrives in Brisbane!
Ability Fest is the first of its kind, promoting access and inclusion within the music industry, proudly presented by the Dylan Alcott Foundation, Untitled Group & triple j. A music festival designed for everyone to experience the magic of live music. The festival oasis is located at heritage-listed, Victoria Park/Barrambin, an open space embracing community with rolling green hills and expansive city views. You can expect all your usual festival amenities like delicious food & drink options, shaded retreats, unique experiences and unforgettable music performances across two stages.
Accessibility remains at the forefront of Ability Fest.
